Piccola Torrefazione Kaldi
Located at 22 Piazza D'Italia, Lecce, Puglia, 73100
This is small coffee roaster place. No sitting down, but you can have your espresso selecting out of an interesting choice of roasts. It is artisanal coffee, enriched with many variations of flavors. The owner goes to great lengths to tell you all about their offers and the history of coffee. Drinking coffee here is more of a ritual than at any other regular coffee shop in town.

Amazing pizza take out place, there are lots like this in Rome, but I think this may be the first one in Lecce, and if not, it is certainly the best. It offers pizza by the “tile”, or "pizza al taglio", a shape cut out of a larger pizza baked out of a rectangular pan. You can choose the size of your “tile” and they sell it to you by its weight. Lots of pizza choices. The store is very small, and it is located in a tiny street behind the Church of Santa Chiara, which is very close to my house. If the weather is not too cold, you can also eat outside, using their benches and or their small tables. They will give you a cutting board to keep your pizza on. The owner likes to experiment with many recipes and he always gets it right. They have another location at Via Zanardelli 48, where, in the summer months, they have tables outside and accept reservations.
Trattoria Cucina Casareccia - Le Zie
Located at 19 Via Costadura, Lecce, 73100
One of my favorite restaurants, traditional cuisine, low key but very good quality. It is located inside a former apartment on the street level. You must call a day ahead to reserve. It is about 15 minute walk from my house, you can zip through the park on the way to it or go shopping in the neighboring streets around Piazza Mazzini. The owners are husband and wife, very nice people. Their eggplant parmigiana is a killer, in addition to their yummy Salento dishes.
A' ROMA L'OSTERIA
Located at Via Cesare Battisti, 3, Lecce 73100
This restaurant hits a delicate spot with me since I am from Rome and I feel very fortunate to have an authentic Osteria Romana in Lecce. Their owners are from Rome but they love Salento so much that they left their home town to realize a dream: open a restaurant that offers traditional food from their native place in their adoptive town of Lecce. The menu is very rich, you may have to go at least two times if you want to explore it. It is 13 minute walk from my house (as Google walks...).
Alle Due Corti
Located at 1 Corte dei Giugni, Lecce, 73100
I always make sure I have at least one meal here when I am in Lecce. I love this restaurant because besides the very good quality of the food they serve there, the owner is very keen on researching traditional Salento cooking and likes to share information about it. One of the waiters told me that if I ever want to know more about any specific food I ate there, I should feel free to write to them and they will be happy to guide me and tell me more about how to cook it.
Trattoria Nonna Tetti

Very good trattoria, steps from my house, affordable, traditional Salento cooking, open till late, always very busy so expect some wait time. I tend to go on the late side and always find a table.
